In yet another initiative towards improving the supply of electricity for the people of Kotdwar, a 33/11 KV GIS Substation was inaugurated today in Haldukhata, Kotdwar as part of ‘Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav’.
The GIS sub-station was inaugurated by Honorable Dr. Harak Singh Rawat, Minister of Energy and Renewable Energy, Uttarakhand Govt. in the presence of Shri Anil Kumar, Managing Director, Uttarakhand Power Corporation Ltd (U.P.C.L). Other senior officials including Shri Ajay Kumar Agrawal, Director (Projects), Shri Ashish Arora, Chief Engineer (District), Shri M.L. Tamta, Superintendent Engineer (IPDS), Shri S.S. Kanwar, Superintendent Engineer (Distribution), Shri Raghuraj Singh, Executive Engineer (Distribution), Shri K.K. Pant, Executive Engineer, (IPDS), and Shri Sanjeev Kumar, Executive Engineer, (District) were also present during the inauguration ceremony.
Power Finance Corporation, a Maharatna CPSE, and India’s leading power sector-focused non-banking financial company is the nodal agency for the project executed under the IPDS scheme and UP Rajkiya Nigam Limited (UPRNL) is the implementing agency of the project.
The inauguration of this sub-station will benefit more than 6,500 consumers, thereby ensuring an uninterrupted power supply in Kotdwar and adjoining areas. The GIS sub-station will play a pivotal role in meeting the increasing demand of power of the region for the next five to ten years. Areas like Motadhak, Mavakot, Durgapuri, Padampur, Ghamadpur, Kalalghati, and Haldukhatawill be largely benefitted from the installation of the GIS substation.
